Justin Ridge and Ethan Theuerkauf created, planned, and hosted the first Scientific Research and Education Networking event on Thursday, April 25 at the Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores (with help from a bunch of others notably Kerry Irish, IMS, the Aquarium, Sea Grant, COSEE, and a slew of graduate students and other organizations). This was the first outreach event Ethan and Justin have ever conducted and the turn out was great; over 65 science teachers attended. The media also picked up on it including NPR, the Carteret County News-Times, and of course UNC. The next day we began our annual marsh shoreline laser scanning and oyster reef surveying expedition with the help of Beth VanDusen. We ended up working over the weekend.
